Appearance and Aroma
The sauce has a beautiful, vibrant color, almost like a deep sunset. It's thick but not too chunky, just the right consistency for a hot sauce. Now for the smell test. you can really pick up the tropical heat hint of a habanero pepper and the subtle smell of a ghost pepper. The tropical habanero note totally threw me off this hot sauce was not expecting this wonderful surprise
One Spoonful
Right off the bat, you get this burst of fresh, vibrant flavor. The Dutchess pepper has a unique profile, almost tropical with a hint of sweetness. has such a nice heat that moves quickly over your tongue and then lingers on the back of your mouth and throat. The heat is there, but it’s not overwhelming and warming up the palate in the most delightful way. T. It’s a symphony of flavors that dance on your tongue, amazing for just 3 ingredients.
Heat Level
Butterfly Bakery lists it as a 5 out 6 pepper scale with so much hot under the peppers. I felt it was closer to a 3.75 or 4 on their pepper scale. Heat was quick on the palate and tongue. Then went to the back of the mouth & throat. Then became a very pleasant warming sensation. I see the ghost pepper aspect with the lingering heat of ghost. I see this could get extra spicy with using this through out a meal and having that heat keep building on it self.
