INSIDE OUT 2 "Sadness Nightmare Wakes Up Joy" Trailer (NEW 2024)
Disney and Pixar's #InsideOut2 is coming to theaters June 2024 with brand new emotions!
The little voices inside Riley’s head know her inside and out—but next summer, everything changes when Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” introduces a new Emotion: Anxiety. According to director Kelsey Mann, the new character promises to stir things up within headquarters. “Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, might be new to the crew, but she’s not really the type to take a back seat,” said Mann. “That makes a lot of sense if you think about it in terms of what goes on inside all our minds.” A trailer, poster and film stills are now available for what promises to be the feel-good (or feel-everything) film of Summer 2024.
Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone. Maya Hawke lends her voice to Anxiety, alongside Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust. Directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen, “Inside Out 2” releases only in theaters Summer 2024.
After the successful run of Disney Pixar’s ‘Inside Out’, the second instalment’s release is underway. The first part, released on June 19, 2015, featured Riley and her five major emotions - Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. The upcoming movie features Riley as a teenager with additional emotions and drama. Keep reading to know more.

The countdown is on. Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2 is heading to theaters soon! After the worldwide success of the first film, the emotions are back to help Riley navigate her teen years. This time around moviegoers will join Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust as they come to terms with sharing control of Riley with some new and more complex emotions. While headquarters undergoes a sudden demolition to make room for the newcomers our old tried and true favorites find themselves being suppressed.
Returning to voice some of our original emotions are Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black. As Riley tries to make room for new experiences in her life Anxiety, Envy, Ennui, and Embarrassment make themselves known. With new emotions comes some new voice talent! Joining the cast this time around are Maya Hawke, Kensington Tallman, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Ayo Edebiri, Lilimar, Grace Lu, Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Paul Walter Hauser, and Yvette Nicole Brown.
Inside Out 2 is directed by Kelsey Mann with Mark Nielsen serving as producer. Pete Docter, Jonas Rivera, and Dan Scanlon lead as executive producers. Inside Out 2‘s screenplay was written by Meg LeFauve and Dave Holstein with the story done by Mann and LeFauve. With music by Andrea Datzman, this film is sure to have all the charm and heartfelt emotion as the original. Inside Out 2 releases exclusively in theaters on June 14th. Make sure to watch the final trailer below!
June is here, and Disney is gearing up for its first big animated feature of the year, Inside Out 2. People have been pretty excited about this film, but there is also a level of trepidation about it. It got even worse when an article about Pixar said they would be moving away from films like Turning Red, Luca, and Elemental because they don't seem to be connecting with audiences to focus on more IP-driven stories. However, Pixar is a studio that was greatly impacted by the pandemic, with three features pushed to streaming, and those features are being cited as reasons why the studio needs to shift its creative vision. If IP-driven works were the solution, Lightyear would have been the film that brought the studio back.
It wasn't, though; Elemental was the thing that breathed some life back into Pixar on the big screen; it was just a slow burn that took a couple of weeks instead of having a massive opening weekend. The whole thing was depressing to read, and it almost soured Inside Out 2 just because it is now emblematic of this new Pixar ethos, even though the film was in development long before this decision was made. The worst part is that there is no winning here. If Inside Out 2 doesn't do well, Pixar could be in trouble just in general, but if the film does well, it's "proof" that focusing on recognizable IP is the way forward. The final trailer is out, and the film still looks really good, but to see Pixar struggling like this and moving away from what made it one of the best studios out there might be the most depressing coming out of a summer blockbuster season that has just started.
Inside Out 2: Final Trailer Teases A "Feel Everything" Movie
INSIDE OUT 2 – FEELING ENVY – In Disney and Pixar's "Inside Out 2," Envy may be small, but she sure knows what she wants. She's perpetually jealous of everything everyone else has, and she's not afraid to pine over it. Envy's wishful thinking and fascination with the newest, coolest thing pulls her attention in all directions and longs for what Riley doesn't have. Featuring Ayo Edebiri as the voice of Envy, "Inside Out 2" releases only in theaters June 14, 2024. © 2024 Disney/Pixar. All Rights Reserved.

The scene is set as alarms shatter a quiet morning in Riley’s head: It’s “demo day” in there — complete with wrecking ball, deconstruction crew (crüe?) and Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” blaring. Seems our hero is turning 13, an a new emotion has arrived: Anxiety. Carrying baggage, of course.

The original Inside Out followed Riley (Kaitlyn Dias), a young girl who is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, with her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) – then coming into conflict as to how to best navigate a new city, house, and school.
Maya Hawke voices Anxiety, joining Inside Out veterans Poehler, Smith, Black. Franchise newcomers Tony Hale and Liza Lapira take over the respective roles of Fear and Disgust.
Inside Out premiered Out of Competition at the 68th Cannes Film Festival, grossing nearly $859M worldwide upon its June 2015 release. Pete Docter and Ronnie Del Carmen directed that pic, which they scripted with Meg LeFauve and Josh Cooley later went on to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, also landing a nom for Best Original Screenplay. It also won the top prize at the Annie Awards.
Docter initially pushed back on the idea of a sequel to the pic, reaffirming his commitment to making original films. But the three-time Oscar winner relented, and Inside Out 2 was confirmed at Disney’s D23 event last year. Pixar veteran and first-time helmer Kelsey Mann takes over the directing reins, and the pic’s exclusive theatrical run launches June 14.
The first trailer for Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” was released this morning. There’s four new characters added into the mix this time around, including Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke. The other three are Embarrassment, Ennui and Envy. A possible Cannes bow is in play for this one.
Since 2016, writer-director Pete Docter has been assembling ideas for an “Inside Out” sequel. Disney officially began the development with the D23 Expo announcement. Kelsey Mann took over as the sequel's director and implemented Docter's ideas.
No Docter directing could be seen as a red flag, but we’ll see what kind of life Mann injects into this one. Also, original writers Docter and Ronnie Del Carmen are not part of the writing team for the sequel. Meg LaFauve, who co-wrote the first one with Docter and Del Carmen, is now the sole writer for the sequel.
2015’s “Inside Out” was the last great movie released by Pixar, although some could make the argument that 2017’s “Coco” and/or 2020’s “Soul” also attained some kind of greatness.
Fixing Pixar should be top priority at Disney. Firstly, they dumped their movies straight to Disney+ during the pandemic, which devalued the brand and trained audiences to ignore their theatrical releases. Add to that the issues they’ve had on the creative side, none of their recent releases have really quite hit the cultural zeitgeist since 2017’s “Coco.”
The inventive nature of the older classics is gone. It’s all surface-level stuff now. They are making overstylized films with none of the risk-taking involved. The last several movies have been nothing more than cynical attempts to hit specific emotional buttons. Hopefully “Inside Out 2” is the one that puts Pixar back on track.
“Inside Out 2” is scheduled for release on June 14, 2024.
The final Inside Out 2 trailer shows Riley repressing emotions in day-to-day conversations.
The Nostalgia emotion, previously cut, makes an appearance in the trailer.
The trailer hints at the possibly increased roles of emotions in the parents' brains in Inside Out 2.
The final trailer for Inside Out 2 gives a look into the chaotic world of Riley’s inner thoughts. Tracking Riley throughout her early teen years, the Inside Out sequel introduces a whole host of new emotions to the team, including Ennui, Anxiety, Envy, and Embarrassment. Embodying these new emotions are the vocal talents of Adèle Exarchopoulos, Maya Hawke, Ayo Edebiri, and Paul Walter Hauser, who join a cast that includes Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Tony Hale, and Liza Lapira. Inside Out 2 is set for release on June 14.
Pixar has now released the final trailer for Inside Out 2. Check it out below:
The trailer begins with a scene featuring Riley’s parents asking her how camp was, to which she responds, “It was good,” while her emotions are swirling around in her brain, caught in some kind of vortex. Inside her mom’s brain, Anger is highly concerned that those words are the only description the parents get, while her dad is much more mellow. From there, the trailer explores what to come in Inside Out 2 with the new emotions, while also teasing several new locations.
The Final Inside Out 2 Trailer Gives a Better Look At Several Hinted Elements
New Emotions & Riley's Complicated Inner Thoughts Are Shown
This Inside Out 2 trailer does the best job of any trailer yet at displaying how Riley is repressing her emotions. In previous trailers, this was physicalized by the literal bottling up of Joy, Fear, Anger, Sadness, and Disgust. Now, the opening scene shows how this bottling manifests in Riley’s day-to-day conversations. In this case, Riley's internal struggle, as great as it may be, is kept exactly that: internal. While she tells her parents very little and keeps a stoic expression, her emotions are in a literal whirlwind.
A brief appearance from the Nostalgia emotion is also a notable element of this Inside Out 2 trailer. Throughout the promotion of the movie, the film’s creators have revealed that there were numerous emotions left on the cutting room floor in Inside Out 2. Recent concept art from Pixar revealed Nostalgia to be one of those emotions, appearing as an old lady in a similar form to what is seen in the trailer. While not getting copious screen time, this is one scrapped emotion who will actually see the light of day in Inside Out 2.
The Inside Out 2 trailer also features several cuts to the emotional systems in Riley’s parents’ brains. These internal worlds were casually placed in the first Inside Out, though they were not a main focus. In this trailer, they are more emphasized. This begs the question as to how much these other characters’ emotions will be incorporated into Inside Out 2. If their presence is increased, this could lead to fascinating new character dynamics in the Pixar sequel.

Inside Out
With little more than a week until the release of Inside Out 2, Disney/Pixar have released one final trailer! The film once again goes inside the mind of Riley, only now she’s a teenager experiencing brand new emotions that the established ones aren’t ready to handle, such as Anxiety, Embarrassment, Envy, and Ennui.
Here’s the synopsis: Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone. Maya Hawke lends her voice to Anxiety, alongside Amy Poehler as the voice of Joy. The voice cast also includes Lewis Black, Phyllis Smith, Tony Hale and Liza Lapira. Directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen, “Inside Out 2” releases only in theaters June 14, 2024.
The voice is huge and includes Amy Poehler, Maya Hawke, Kensington Tallman, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Lewis Black, Phyllis Smith, Ayo Edebiri, Lilimar, Grace Lu, Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green, Adèle Exarchopoulos, Diane Lane, Kyle MacLachlan, Paul Walter Hauser, and Yvette Nicole Brown.
Pixar has been focusing on established brands over the last few years and that has led some to say the company is on a downturn creatively. Inside Out wasn’t the most obvious movie to need a sequel, so it’ll be interesting to see how this lands with audiences.
