Sunscreens Contain Aluminum

"I don't recommend sunscreen at all...there's a lot of sunscreens that contain aluminum and that aluminum will absorb through your skin and that's gonna also mess up your enzymes. Aluminum is very toxic." Senior Research Scientist at MIT Stephanie Seneff doesn't think anybody should be using sunscreen.

Seneff, who holds four degrees from MIT—including a B.S. degree in Biophysics and a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science—explains that sunscreens often contain aluminum, which is "very toxic."

"Aluminum is very toxic has been going up over time...with increased use of sunscreen." The senior research scientist asks rhetorically, "if you think sunscreen is protecting you from melanoma, why is the rate going up? It doesn't make any sense." Furthermore, Seneff says that part of the problem with people not being able to tan properly naturally is because of glyphosate, an herbicide that's been linked to cancer, as well as other diseases. "Glyphosate disrupts the shikimate pathway, and melanin is one of the many biologically active molecules that comes out of that pathway," Seneff says. She notes that melanin is "a fantastic natural protection," but when it becomes deficient, people can't tan properly. "It's much better to...slowly build up a tan during the Spring so you can handle the Summer sun without sunscreen," Seneff says. "As long as you have a good tan, you don't need sunscreen..."
