Experienced Pilot Boards Onto A Moving Ship With Ease
A curious footage has emerged of a pilot boarding to a moving ship near the coast of Hailuoto, Finland, going to the port of Oulu. Filmed on April 2, 2018, the clip shows the incredible moment when a massive ship propels through freezing waters, moving up a narrow river with 20” of ice underneath. Amazing!
This is the curious moment when an experienced pilot calculates the right timing and dares to step onto a moving ship with the east. Footage shows a massive cargo ship moving through ice chunks in narrow waters. Two officials are spotted on shore, waiting for the ship to pass by them, in order to set the scaling bridge and help one of the officials enter the ship without having it to stop!
This swift maneuver requires some serious skills and gut since one wrong move might send the official down in the freezing waters and under the heavy ship. Who knows what happened and why this pilot needed to hop in from the middle of nowhere in order to catch the moving ship! Nonetheless, it was a successful mission, much to our amusement!
We don’t know what’s the story behind this occurrence, but we sure believe that it was a life or death situation, since the pilot had to hop in uninvited mid-ride just to board on the ship! This strange video reminds us of the video when thieves managed to climb onto a moving truck, steal bags of sugar and leave as nothing happened. Talk about the perfect crime, alright!
In addition to this unusual moment, the fact itself that this massive cargo ship is sailing up a narrow river through large chunks of ice. Incredible! In the video, a man is seen pushing a ladder while the vessel approaches. A route pilot remains on the ladder and snatches a rope holding tight the passing boat, enabling him to move on board. The pilot wasn't notwithstanding wearing even an existence vest. After only four days, the video had gotten in excess of 220,000 perspectives.
High skill is required to be a pilot as the channels through which the ships move towards the port are normally too narrow and shallow for the size of the ships, with the stopping distance of the ships were only a few nautical miles and the fact that ships do not steer at slow speed. Even if a ship captain is a regular visitor to a certain port, they can not match the expertise and experience of the Pilot.
Moving a ship through the shallow water to berth/unberth in a port requires collaboration which includes, aside from the port pilot, the ship's captain (mutually mindful), ship's group, port tugs, and shore linesmen. Since the pilot is ready the ship, they control the pulls and linesmen through a radio, and the ship specifically. The ship's commander guarantees their group complete the pilot's requests. These ship pilots are trained to act quickly and smart out of the ship as they would act on the boat! So amazing!
