Preface: A Headbanging Hardcore thank you to all who came by and supported the shows this past May as it was Military Appreciation Month. I encourage everyone who says, “Thank you for your service!”, that the absolute the best way to do that is to donate to a military charity of your choice. All funds sent will go to a good cause to assist our Gold Star Families, Families of Fallen Warfighters, and Veterans. Anything you can give, is greatly appreciated in these tough financial times. They need you, folks. Please help us Veterans, take care of our own. – SGT Rock

And on with the show!

WHAT’S GOIN’ ON, HEADBANGERS!?!?! I would like to start by saying before this show kicks off that it has been one helluva year at SGT Rock’s Headbangers Ball up here on Freedom Hill, broadcasting at 150,000 Watts of pure, unadulterated Heavy Metal power.

Preface:
Hey Headbangers. First, this show is dedicated to the men who fought and died during the assault on Hitler’s “Atlantic Wall”. The US led invasion, historically known as Operation Overlord. Those boys went into a hell only warfighters understand, and civilians can never fathom. We cannot thank “The Greatest Generation” enough for their courage, fighting prowess, grit, determination, and unbridled aggression to kick the shit out of German forces holding what that fuckin Joe Bidenesque methed out fuckin little weasel with the retarded mustache’s line that he thought was “impregnable”. Fuck you. This is the United States of America, you fuck with us, you die by us. Sue me if I seem a bit “over patriotic” on D-Day. Because what the public doesn’t understand. Today, as I write this on 3 June 2024, forces were already on ground prepping the invasion and the Germans…didn’t know we were fuckin there working with partisans and other allied forces. From the Pathfinder’s setting up DZs to the original Navy Frogmen, hitting the shore and mapping out intel to give to battle commanders as they returned to the boats where minefields were on the beaches. God bless those men. While I was in the Army, I visited American National Cemeteries in France and Belgium. Spoke with those alive during the invasion and listened to how grateful they were we kicked the shit out of the German forces and liberating Europe. They will forever remain loved, honored, and remembered. Maybe you should take a few minutes out of your day on D-Day and on the weekend, or any day for that matter to pay them some fuckin respects. – The Sarge

Now if it hadn’t been for those men who stormed Fortress Europe, a farm kid from Minnesota, wouldn’t have had the opportunity to have something to look forward to, and that is The Stanley Cup Playoffs. Now, I come from a time when the divisions looked like this: Prince of Wales Conference, with Adams and Patrick Divisions and Clarence Campbell Conference, with Norris and Smythe Divisions. Yes, I’m old but I saw the greatest on the ice. Oh, the joy of being GenX. But what always was the great thing about hockey games when you’re in the venue? Well, back then, it was the organ player. Yes, I heard iconic songs from the artists of the time. At the Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, Minnesota (now the site of The Mall of America), that organ player had her shit together. She would jam all of the classic hockey jingles, but she’d jam the greats CCR, Floyd, Allman Brothers, Doobies, Chicago, just to name a few, I remember at one North Star game, she broke out Zep’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’ when the North Stars made their first playoff appearance when I was 4 years old in ’73 (I was born in November). Going to see them play with my whole family. It broke Dad’s trucker wallet, but he made sure we put enough away to have a family ticket package. Because that’s what Dad’s do. In 26 years, the North Stars made the playoffs 17 times. The Cup would have been in Minnesota in 98’, but fuck Norm!

I remember in 1991, I watched the Stanley Cup Final and had my heart broke when we lost it to Mario Lemieux’s Penguins in 6 games. It was a great series, hard fought. I still haven’t healed from that swift kick to the nuts.

The Stanley Cup Final is the pinnacle of sports championships. It is the best; it is the most storied. The Stanley Cup is the most beautiful trophy in Sports. It’s earned, through blood, broken bones, sweat and tears. Only teams that are the hungriest win it. Only the teams with the most grit win it. And since I’ve been a kid, I’ve watched every one of them. Even while I was in the Army, on deployment, we watched The Stanley Cup Final. And here I am, a Minnesota Wild. 24 years later. No Cup. The Legacy of Failure continues. The Wild continue to be a farm team of the champions. Well, at least the 80s era Twins pulled through. Yet I digress….
And here we are in June. This show will air on Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final (Saturday, 8 June 2024 between the Eastern Conference Champions, The Florida Panthers who are going in to win their first Stanley Cup of the Franchise. Do they have the magic of the Vegas Golden Knights, the St. Louis Blues, and the Washington Capitals to win their 1st Stanley Cup in Franchise History or will the Western Conference Champions, the once great Dynasty of the NHL, led by “The Great One”. Can team Captain Connor McDavid lead them like Gretzky and bring the Cup back to Gretzkyville or will the Stanley Cup remain stateside? This is the excitement of the Stanley Cup Final every hockey fan feels. This cup series is special. Why? It’s USA vs. CANADA, that age old debate, “Who’s the best? Who gets it done?” We’ve seen it in junior hockey and worlds and now, it’s both a game of who’ll dig deepest, who wants it more. Now, it’s The Stars and Stripes vs The Maple Leaf.

So, just like last week, enough hockey talk. I’ve put together a great show for you this week. A show you can play at playoff parties, and we hope you invite us into your party space. Drop us a Follow, Comment, Like, and Share. The most important thing we want to do is let other Headbangers and Headbanger Hockey Fans know is that in the second decade of the new millennium that an Army Veteran who loves the family tree of Heavy Metal has created a new brand of show that reminds us of a show that MTV used to show on Saturday Nights to millions of headbangers. That show is long gone! And man was it great when it ran. Both times. Since MTV is now a woke social indoctrination channel, my show, doesn’t do that. I just play what I think is great music you the headbanger will really enjoy. All eras, old and new. SGT Rock’s Headbangers Ball isn’t just a show; it’s a rite of passage for those who find solace in the heavy metal’s cathartic embrace, a sonic call to the headbangers, the moshers, and the fist-raisers.

Keep your horns held high and that volume knob cranked to 11! This is YOUR…Headbangers Ball!

New shows every Saturday @ 1300 Eastern. Stay tuned next week for more tailgating and game favorites!
