June 2, 2024, Acts 11:22-26, "Going Outside of Old Traditions" (Live)

Streamed on:

Acts 11:19-21, the expansion of the preaching of Christ, beyond just the Jews (beyond Judea and Samaria), onto the Gentiles (beyond the Ethiopian eunuch and Cornelius, to name a few examples)
Acts 11:19, because of Stephen's persecution (the same persecution that Saul of Tarsus originally played a significant role in), the Church began to scatter
Acts 11:20-21, and the word of God began to spread further, starting at Antioch
Acts 11:21, "and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord"

Romans 2, God's righteous judgement, for He is God of ALL (not just for some people groups or for just some nations)

Acts 11:20-21, and the word of God began to spread further, starting at Antioch
Acts 11:19,21, "and the hand of the Lord was with them"

Acts 11:22, the church in Jerusalem finally heard of the news: of the spread of the Gospel of Christ onto the Gentiles, and therefore they sent Barnabas over to Antioch (the same Barnabas who was sent by God to bring Saul of Tarsus to the church in Jerusalem- the same Saul that was at the stoning of Stephen- the same Saul that went on to persecute many Christians, until Saul was converted by God into Paul)

Acts 11:23, Barnabas found the grace of God in Antioch, and he encouraged the people to continue following God

Acts 11:24-26, and Barnabas did not simply return back to Jerusalem: he also came back a second time to Antioch with Paul, and continued to help grow the church there. "And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."

Acts 11:26, the first notable time scripture mentions a large Christian assembly (beyond the assembly on the day of Pentecost), compared to the small private home gatherings in the earlier days of the Church

Romans 15:15-21, Paul called to be an apostle onto the Gentiles, and his calling was indeed fulfilled by God
Romans 15:21, "To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand."

Hebrews 10:24-25, 'Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together [...] but exhorting one another [...] as ye see the [last] day approaching'

Ephesians 4:14-15, God does not want people to be distracted and overwhelmed by evil
Acts 11:26, God's will and word did not come back void: the church in Antioch grew- the people became disciples of Christ
