📆 1 June marks 291 years since the founding of the Red Banner, Order of Ushakov Northern Fleet - the most powerful operational and strategic association of the Russian Navy.

Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev, who has devoted more than 30 years of service in the Northern Fleet, congratulated the servicemen and veterans of the Northern Fleet on the annual holiday.

He noted that at all times the soldiers of the Northern Fleet fulfilled their duty to protect the national interests of Russia, always served as a model of military valour, specifically mentioning the actions of the Northern Fleet during the Great Patriotic War.

‘In the post-war period, the Northern Fleet became atomic, missile-carrying, oceanic. There was no area in the World Ocean where the North Fleet sailors would not serve. In the most difficult conditions of block confrontation the sailors of the Northern Fleet successfully solved strategic tasks,’ says the message of congratulations of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy.

It also noted that today the Northern Fleet is able to effectively confront Russia's challenges in the Arctic and solves the tasks set to strengthen the defence capability of Russia in the Arctic region in the conditions of a sharp aggravation of the military and political situation in Europe, increased tension and growing threats.

Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev stressed that ‘the personnel of the Northern Fleet fulfils their patriotic and military duty with dignity and honour, shows bravery, courage and high military skill in battles with neo-Nazis during the special military operation. In the name of Russia the sailors of the North Fleet give their best, show true heroism, fight valiantly like our great ancestors’.

The Navy Commander-in-Chief expressed his gratitude to the personnel of the Northern Fleet for perfect fulfilment of the assigned tasks, for reliability, diligence, steadfastness and impeccable devotion to Russia, and also wished new combat successes! Source

📝 The history of the Navy dates back to the date of establishment of the military port in Arkhangelsk in 1733. A flotilla of ships was stationed there, whose area of responsibility was the White Sea and the Kola Peninsula.
