These two guys need to act quickly: a small dog is clinging to the branches for we don’t know how long in the cold waters of Lake Monroe in Stanford. Ryan Swaney and Chris Bates say that Wednesday morning April, 25th,2018, they were at the water’s edge on Lake Monroe when one of the future rescuers noticed this small dog tangled up in branches.

As you can see in the video above, Swaney and Bates are literally trying to fish out the dog from the murky lake waters, and the dog seems to understand their message: cling to the branches for dear life. Slowly and carefully and after several attempts, Swaney with the assistance and support from Bates, who is filming the entire mission, managed to carefully pull out the small dog safely to land. Ironically, “Ryan, the man who hates dogs” was the one who actually grabbed and pulled out the dog.

"We were down on the riverfront on Lake Monroe and looked down into the water to see a dog. At first, I thought she was dead, but she moved a little. We fetched a strap from the truck and used it to pull the branches closer. After a couple of attempts, we pulled the dog up on the wall. After a few days, she’s doing well."

After the initial shock and shivering from the cold, the dog was taken to the vet where they learned it is a female and just about one-year-old. She is not chipped. They are calling her “JD” for Jane Doe. The men say if they don't find the owner, Swaney is prepared to adopt the puppy.
