The article discusses the trends in trading during Memorial Day week since 1971 and how it has changed since 2010. On average, the S&P index has seen a 0.52% gain during the holiday week compared to a 0.17% gain in a typical week. However, since 2010, the trend has reversed and the index has fallen an average of 0.38% during Memorial Day week. This is a significant change and important to keep in mind while planning your trades.

The author also breaks down the days surrounding Memorial Day, with Friday before the holiday being the most bullish day. Tuesday and Wednesday tend to be negative, while Thursday and Friday tend to be positive, apart from the year 2010. This year, the S&P is already up over 11%, which bodes well for the rest of the year according to the author.
