Girls on the Turf Flag Football Fest in Westlake

A flag football event happening this Saturday started as a simple idea by two local high school girls.

Since there we no local leagues for them, they created "Girls on the Turf."

Nora Bruder from Rocky River High School and Jules Cerny from Elyria Catholic are the brains behind this group. They tell 3News the event is important to promote girls in the game with the possibility of having leagues in the area with high schools participating.

Saturday marks their first annual YMCA Girls on the Turf Flag Football Fest in Westlake. It runs from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the West Shore YMCA.
