I was born in the Soviet Union, in Sverdlovsk now called Yekaterinburg. It’s the same city where Boris Yeltsin came from. I was in the Soviet Army for 1 year, studied in medical school for 6 further years. After graduating, I specialised for 1 year in infectious disease unit and then worked for 10 years for a pharmaceutical company.

Since the second Chechen war, I have been in opposition to the government organising protests in support of human rights. In 2011 I left due to criminal persecution and arrived in the UK. I had a basic knowledge of English but learnt in an intensive way for one year passing several exams to confirm my diploma.

In 2015, I moved to Scotland to work as a junior doctor. I chose Scotland under the influence of two novels by Walter Scott - I was re-reading them prior my application. I worked in Elgin, where Macbeth killed king Duncan, in Aberdeen, where Byron spent his infancy, in Inverness, the location of some Walter Scott’s novels. Now I’m in Glasgow, the most Soviet town in the UK.

Since then I have been training in psychiatry in the UK where I discovered a tremendous amount of systemic patient harm due to the inappropriate use of therapeutic medications, resulting in my whistleblowing which has delayed my career due to unfounded accusations and investigations, all of which have failed to demonstrate any wrongdoing on my behalf.

I am passionate about reading and you will almost always find me relaxing with a book. I have compiled an ever evolving list of the 100 books everyone must read and re-read.
