David DePape, convicted of assaulting then-U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband in 2022, was re-sentenced to 30 years in prison on Tuesday, reaffirming the original sentence.

The case was reopened to allow DePape to speak during his sentencing hearing, a right initially denied by U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley.

DePape apologized for the attack before being re-sentenced. He had forcibly entered Pelosi’s San Francisco home on October 28, 2022, and attacked Paul Pelosi with a hammer in a politically motivated assault.

DePape was found guilty of attempting to kidnap a federal officer and assaulting a family member of a federal officer, driven by far-right QAnon conspiracy theories, Reuters reported.
