OCCO - just an animal. (lyric video)

"just an animal." is the 6th song on my album “ROLL OUT THE FOG!”

this song was inspired by one of many m*ss sh**tings that occurred during 2022. i was sickened not only by the violence, but by certain politicians' reaction to it. i understand that people have differing political views, but it sickened me to hear certain rhetoric that was cold and lacking any sort of compassion for the victims' families.

the song is about corrupt people in power, how they make decisions based on cold calculated chemical pursuit. no love, no compassion, no higher or lofty ideals. only out for themselves, their power, their pleasure. i sing the lyrics ironically, since i do believe we ARE more than just animals. we are spiritual beings with a connection to the unchanging forces in the universe. call it God or Dao.

the instrumentation is inspired by Stromae's "Multitude" album where he uses a Brazilian Funk rhythm, specifically his song "Fils de Joie". if you listen to both songs, you'll see im not a very original guy haha. along with the rhythm, it features a heavy electronic bass for a sluggish feel all thru the song. the use of vocoder in the choruses was a conscious choice, i liked the contrast of singing about being an animal while sounding like a robot.
