Lost Planet 3 | Part 12 Gameplay
"Lost Planet 3" is a third-person shooter and the third installment in the "Lost Planet" series. The game serves as a prequel to the first two games, taking place before the events of "Lost Planet: Extreme Condition" and "Lost Planet 2." Here’s an overview of the game’s plot:
Plot Summary
Setting:
The game is set on the frozen planet E.D.N. III, a harsh and frigid environment filled with dangerous creatures known as Akrid.
Protagonist:
Players control Jim Peyton, a rig pilot who leaves Earth to work for the Neo-Venus Construction (NEVEC) company. Jim takes on a job to support his family back home by gathering precious thermal energy from the planet.
Storyline:
Upon arriving on E.D.N. III, Jim starts working on resource extraction and dealing with the local wildlife. He pilots a utility rig designed to withstand the extreme conditions and encounters various types of Akrid, ranging from small nuisances to massive beasts.
As Jim delves deeper into his missions, he discovers that NEVEC’s intentions are not purely about resource extraction. He uncovers a conspiracy involving NEVEC’s plans to exploit the planet's resources at the cost of its inhabitants and the environment. Throughout the game, Jim communicates with his wife and son back on Earth, providing emotional depth to his character and motivations.
Conflict:
Jim's journey takes a turn when he learns about NEVEC's dark secrets and their real motives. He encounters the Snow Pirates, a group of survivors from the planet, who reveal more about NEVEC's oppressive practices. Jim finds himself torn between his duties to NEVEC and his moral compass, leading to conflicts with both the Akrid and NEVEC forces.
Resolution:
The climax of the story revolves around Jim’s efforts to thwart NEVEC’s plans and protect the planet's future. The game concludes with significant revelations about the planet's history and sets the stage for the events in the subsequent "Lost Planet" games.
"Lost Planet 3" blends narrative-driven gameplay with intense combat sequences, focusing on the protagonist's personal journey and the larger implications of corporate exploitation in a hostile environment.
