It Takes Chelsea Handler Just Ten Seconds To Debunk Her Own Argument Against Harrison Butker

The Usual Suspects have made a lot of dumb arguments in the aftermath of Harrison Butker's commencement speech, like, for example, the one published in the Kansas City Star that suggested Butker be replaced by a less talented female kicker to "make a statement." There was also the change.org petition created in the aftermath of the May 11th Benedictine College address, which called for his firing and alleged without evidence that Butker's remarks "were sexist, homophobic, anti-trans, anti-abortion and racist" as well as "dehumanizing." Though Butker congratulated the female graduates for their "amazing accomplishments" while also paying homage to motherhood in his Catholic-themed speech, it wasn't enough for knee-jerk feminists like purported comedienne Chelsea Handler, who proceeded to call Butker a "misogynistic... Bible thumper" because originality in arguments is apparently not a thing for woke leftists.

Yes, Butker's mom, Elizabeth, is an accomplished woman, one he has also praised for being his "biggest supporter" and "guiding me to be the man I needed to become." He knows the sacrifices she made for him, and that is clearly reflected in the things he's said about her. So where is the inconsistency between her having a career and what he said during his commencement speech? Answer: There's not one. Handler basically debunked her own argument in record time without even knowing it. Nowhere in Butker's speech did he demean or frown upon women whose first actions after college are to start a career. In fact, when he talked about his wife, Isabelle, he acknowledged that for some women it can be a sacrifice to choose to start a family after college rather than pursue career opportunities - but that it's a sacrifice so many of them make without regret.

It's just amazing to me how much of what he said has been misconstrued to mean something it didn't. Then again, Handler has been on a mission for years now - and admittedly so - to prove to people that middle-aged women don't have to be married with children to lead happy and fulfilling lives, so I guess folks shouldn't be too surprised that she'd have this take. That's her choice, and that's fine. But maybe in trying to prove her supposed point she could, I dunno, not come across as miserable and bitter and maybe show a little grace towards families who have made different choices than she did. Just a thought. -- Chelsea Handler is 49 years old, childless, unmarried. Harrison Butker is 28, happily married, 2 kids, just won a Super Bowl. This is pure envy. It's oozing out of her.
