One of seven tunes for the "virtual internet audition" for drumming on a cruise ship, this was take 2 of 2. There was both a track and chart provided which means that this is a reading gig and there is no negotiation on that point which gives one yet another reason to be able to read musical notation.

Specific to this recording; This is a song which I have played on many gigs and jam nights....so I have SOME experience and familiarity with this song and this does help out. HOWEVER, this arrangement is pretty much right along with the song as recorded by Stevie Wonder and the cruise line wants this arrangement and no other. Again, while the click track stated the song and continued until the clavanova part came in, it dropped out of the audio thereafter.

The EXACT drum part to be played was notated and this isn't negotiable.

In that respect, it IS a JOB and I'm there to deliver and you're either on the ship or you're not. This cannot be done as a hobby, part-time, or in your spare time. This is lost on most musicians....the 95% of people who either DON"T PLAY A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT or DIDN'T GO TO MUSIC SCHOOL don't care; they want to hear music to which they can relate, even if it is Milli Vanilli's:Girl, You Know It's True", a song which I have made a great living covering.
