The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) Anti-Surveillance State Act with a vote of 216-192. The legislation aims to prevent the Federal Reserve from issuing a retail CBDC to individuals and using it for monetary policy. The bill saw limited bipartisan support, with three Democrats—Reps. Mary Peltola, Marie Perez, and Jared Golden—joining Republicans in favor. No Republicans opposed the bill. Introduced by Rep. Tom Emmer, the bill had 165 Republican cosponsors at the time of the vote.
