Indian police drive into hospital to make Bollywood-style arrest

He thought he was safe from the cops on the third floor. He was wrong.

Satish Kumar, a nursing officer, had been administering his hands in the wrong places at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand. Places like a junior female doctor, with the doctor filing a molestation complaint against Kumar. News of Kumar’s less-than-healing hands quickly reached other staff members, who went on strike demanding Kumar be immediately fired. Instead, his fate would be more dramatic.

In rolled the cops, quite literally, driving right onto the ward to make the arrest like something out of a Bollywood movie. The incident, captured in a 26-second video that has gone viral on social media, shows policemen clearing a path through the crowded ward, moving aside equipment and patients alike to make way for the vehicle, while the driver slowly edged down the hospital like he was suffering from a terminal case of badassery. Kumar was arrested. He didn’t really have much choice.

Not everyone is happy, though. For a start, is it all that sanitary to drive a police SUV directly into a ward? Many users on social media think not. Nor do they think the response was remotely proportionate, justified or wise. But it was cool.
