Is Toyota 'Catching Up' on Electric Vehicles

Toyota's US boss, Ted Ogawa, believes the company is "catching up" on electric vehicles and new tech,

despite admitting it's behind Tesla.

Of the over 2.2 million Toyota vehicles sold in the US last year,

only 9,329 were all-electric,

accounting for less than 0.5% of sales.

Toyota is investing in a new "BEV Factory" with advanced technologies like Giga casting and efficient battery production,

aiming to reduce lead time and costs.

Toyota plans to launch next-gen batteries with over 800 km range and fast charging capabilities by 2027-2030.

Can Toyota's new models and tech help it catch up in the electric vehicle market this time?
