Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has announced the date of the UK General Election.
In a speech outside 10 Downing Street in London, herevealed that the election date will take place on Thursday, 4 July.
He had widely been expected to announce an autumnelection, but Wednesday's news comes after mounting speculation.
