JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Twenty-seven men were arrested in an undercover sting that focused on identifying people who use the internet to solicit sex acts with children, Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters announced during a press conference Monday.
These adults solicited sexual activity and committed to engaging in sex acts with purported minors and pre-arranged locations. Among the 27 men arrested in the sting, were Kevin Pearce, 58, a former Duval County Public Schools district maintenance employee and Austin Maddox, a former MLB player for the Boston Red Sox and a Duval County school district employee.

Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Austin Maddox Arrested in CHILD S*X STING after he was caught trying to meet up with a 14-year-old.

Maddox was one of 28 people arrested in the sting.

The former MLB pitcher could be seen trying to enter a home when he was ambushed by police officers who set the trap.

Maddox was slapped with four felony counts, including traveling to meet after using a computer to solicit a child.

After finding out the girl he thought he was messaging was 14, Maddox allegedly said: "That's young, baby. I get in trouble for that. You can't even drive. You gonna stay with me all night?"

Maddox then agreed to meet up with the girl where he was arrested.

He is being held on a $300,000 bond.
