Peltor Comtac : Fix for Dangling Cords

The peltor comtac series are super high quality hearing protection with built in microphones frequently issued to military and law enforcement personnel.

Because the ear pro is of such high quality, you probably like running these things at the range. This pair was generously gifted to me by a family member who had previously served and was issued a few pairs over his career. It definitely works a lot better than your typical pair of walker's razors, so I prefer to run these at the range. However, the wiring can be annoying if you don't have them plugged into your communication device. The microphone flips around to the side so its no big deal, but the cord just flaps around, and feels a little distracting.

Some of us resort to just taping the cords when not in usage, but its messy and annoying when you need to actually use the cord, plus the tape comes loose and its just kind of a pain in the butt.

That is until I discovered this $8 solution on amazon. Made by the knock off chinese tactical gear company, IDOgear, they have a simple elastic velcro patch based solution with a 3M glue backed pad. The patches come in a variety of colors, I picked multicam because it was on sale and multicam is just plain cool. Simply peel and apply the pad to your corded side, then apply the velcro patch. Unplug the ear muff wiring, run it through the elastic, and plug it back in. Then roll up your cord and run it through the elastic.

This setup works really well and holds the cord in securely without looking too ugly and while remaining super convenient if you need to swap between radio and range for whatever context you work in.
