The Russians' target could be the city of Kharkov in order to secure the buffer zone and prevent Ukrainian weapons from striking Belgorod.

This is the finale of the Russian strategy, which was developed in the fall of 2022, based on waging a war of attrition.

This new offensive opens a new front that will push Ukraine's depleted resources to the limit and could lead to the complete defeat and capitulation of Ukraine.
