The Minnesota Senate Ethics Committee met last week to determine how to handle the ethics complaint against Senator Nicole Mitchell, who was arrested for felony burglary. After four hours of a public meeting, the Senate Ethics Committee members went behind closed doors in an “executive session” and emerged with a deal that was supported by the two Democrats and Republican Jeremy Miller. Senator Mitchell will not face an ethics decision until after the legislative session is concluded. Senate President Bobby Joe Champion says in this audio that the executive session was recorded for “transparency,” but legal staff at the senate is refusing to give us the audio.
