"Maxton Hall — The World Between Us" is a romantic drama series that follows Ruby Bell (Harriet Herbig-Matten) as she accidentally overhears a huge secret at the public school Maxton Hall. Because of this, conflict arises between her and the most powerful guy in school James Beaufort (Damian Hardung), who is determined to keep his sister’s secret from getting out into the world. Ruby must navigate the hardships of getting through school while dealing with powerful people trying to stop her from reaching her dream.

This series offers a whirlwind of emotions that will make you click “next episode” until you’ve powered through the entire season. As you can expect, most of those emotions revolve around the slow burn romance, tension, and seductive narrative that draws you in.

All six episodes are available on Prime Video, with each of them being around 40-50 minutes in length. “Maxton Hall” is actually a German show, but it does have English subtitles and a dubbed version.

Critics and viewers are divided — what the reviews say
Although viewers have fallen in love with the show, critics aren’t replicating those feelings. “Maxton Hall” currently has 60% on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience score is very high at 94%. It seems as though viewers enjoyed the simplicity and engagement it offers rather than taking it too seriously.

However, some critics were kind to this new series. Kristen Baldwin from Entertainment Weekly said: “Maxton Hall — The World Between Us follows the YA enemies-to-lovers blueprint to the letter, and that soothing familiarity is its greatest strength.” Meanwhile, Filmink’s Lisa Nystrom stated the “leads bounce off each other well, and with only 6 short episodes in the season you can at least trust the turnaround between bully to potential boyfriend not to be as interminable as it might feel in the beginning.”

On the other hand, some critics didn’t feel the same sparks. David Opie from Radio Times said: “There's a world between Maxton Hall and the other teen shows that it tries to emulate, falling far short of the standard set by Gossip Girl, Élite, and yes, even the Gossip Girl reboot.”

Aside from the odd negative review, audiences were very pleased with the series. Common comments include “beautiful story and cinematography”, “top-notch chemistry”, and “the series beautifully captures the story of true love.”

Will there be a Maxton Hall season 2?
Prime Video are currently yet to say if Maxton Hall will return for a second season. There's no need to worry just yet though. Prime usually wait a few weeks or months before confirming if their shows have been renewed and with Maxton Hall rising straight to the top of their charts and more books to adapt, there's a good chance we'll get more of Ruby and James.

If there is a second season, it will likely be six episodes long just like season 1. Episodes are between 45 and 53 minutes.

When is the Maxton Hall season 2 release date?
Until Maxton Hall is renewed for a second season, we won't have any official news a Maxton Hall season 2 release date. That being said, Prime Video tend to release new seasons of their shows on an annual basis so it's possible that they'll release Maxton Hall season 2 as soon as summer 2025.

With that in mind, it will cover James coping with the death of his mother and how that affects his relationship with Ruby. Without any spoilers, it's just as dramatic and chaotic as season 1.

On top of that, we find out if Ruby and James get into Oxford and there's more drama between Lydia and Mr. Sutton.

Y aura-t-il une saison 2 de "Maxton Hall" ?
Il faut savoir que la série Maxton Hall: Le Monde qui nous sépare est l'adaptation d'un série littéraire du même nom de Mona Kasten, qui a rencontré un immense succès en Allemagne. Cette saga est composée de 3 romans "Save Me", "Save You" et "Save Us".

La première saison de Maxton Hall retranscrit les évènements du premier roman "Save Me", ce qui veut dire qu'il reste deux livres à adapter et donc de la matière pour d'autres saisons. D'autant plus que la première saison de Maxton Hall se termine sur un cliffhanger de taille et on ne sait pas si la relation entre Ruby et James va survivre à l'ultime révélation choc du dernier épisode.

Les fans voudront forcément une suite - qui existe donc ! - mais il faudra attendre le feu vert de Prime Video. Étant donné le succès des romans et la popularité de la série sur la plateforme, il ne serait pas étonnant qu'une saison 2 soit accordée à Maxton Hall.

Prime Video’s teen drama “Maxton Hall,” based on Mona Kasten’s novel “Save Me,” is set to become a major hit on the platform. The series has already reached the top of the charts, thanks to its mix of romance, class struggles and, of course, a talented cast, which include Damian Hardung, who plays James Beaufort.

The series is set in a prestigious boarding school, and it will follow Ruby Bell, portrayed by Harriet Herbig-Matten, a scholarship student, who gets on the bad side of James Beaufort, a wealthy and troublemaker heir.

Millionaire heir James Beaufort is the one with a secret who has the secret. Now he needs to deal with Ruby in any way that he can. Will he decide to keep her on side, or will he try to ruin her? This is the choice he needs to make.
