Square Enix DITCHES Sony For New Plan to STOP Huge Losses!

Square Enix just sounded the alarm on the gaming industry and announced a plan to right the ship before it sinks. Disclosing in their End of Fiscal Year 2023 report that they had taken a substantial profitability hit, several changes are incoming for the Final Fantasy developer.

First and foremost, completely restructuring and reworking their Western Studios. Many layoffs are expected and needed, if we are being honest. Most of the brand damage has been done from these offices, so to have the Japanese assume full control can only improve their output.

Secondly and the much better news, exclusivity is being scrapped for a multiplatform approach. Gone are the days of Sony getting the right of refusal and sales being hampered by their lackluster console sales, a wider net can now be cast to get their products out to the biggest audience possible.

Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth and Part 3 might well be tethered to existing deals, but this is overall good news for Square Enix and the industry at large.
