Las Vegas police are investigating a west Las Vegas Valley homicide.According to a preliminary report, officers responded to the 2200 block of Starline Meadow on Monday night.

LVMPD Lt. Jason Johansson provided an update shortly after 11 p.m., explaining that officers responded at approximately 7:07 p.m. on Monday evening for a call of a shooting. The caller reported that the shooting followed an altercation between two neighbors.

When police arrived, the suspect reportedly emerged from a garage at the scene and was taken into custody without incident. The victim, a man in his 40s, was found in a nearby driveway “suffering from several gunshot wounds.”

Officers provided initial care to the victim until medical personnel arrived, but the man was declared dead at the scene. The Metro homicide team has taken over the investigation.

Lt. Johansson said that the two men were standing at the edges of their respective property lines when they engaged in a “verbal altercation” before the shooting. He added that the suspect was armed during the interaction, but did not initially aim the gun at the victim.

The shots fired were audible to dispatchers during the 911 call reporting the incident.

Police are still canvassing the area, looking for additional witnesses or video surveillance footage. The lieutenant reported that police have already secured video footage that “captured the entire incident.”

He said that the suspect would be booked into the Clark County Detention Center late tonight, after police finish processing the scene.
