US Assembles 'Squad' of Allies to Counter Communist China

05/12/2024 WION: The US, Philippines, Australia, and Japan have formed a new security alliance known as the “SQUAD” to counter Communist China's growing influence in the Indo-Pacific region. The squad calls upon Communist China to abide by the final and legally binding 2016 South China Sea Tribunal Award and is also expected to provide greater security help to the Philippines. Further, it is expected to pose a more targeted challenge to Beijing by allowing the U.S. to manage the security situation in the South China Sea and also the Taiwan Strait.
