Indianapolis Public Schools Superintendent Lewis Ferebee says he has withdrawn his name from the list of candidates being considered to lead the Los Angeles School District. The Indianapolis Public School Board President confirmed on Monday that Ferebee was a contender for the position. Ferebee released a statement Wednesday calling the consideration an "honor" but says that after discussion with his family, the IPS school board and the search committee in L.A., he has decided to withdraw his name.
