Jacob, the man who stole his brother's blessing by deceiving their father (at the insistence of his mother!), begins a long journey toward trusting in the Lord, and not himself, by being deceived himself. After serving Laban seven years for his youngest daughter's hand, Jacob is tricked into marrying Leah, the older daughter, first. Leah, unwanted by her father and unloved by her husband, has a story that serves as an encouragement to all of us who are not among the rich, famous and beautiful. In this message from Genesis 29-30, Michael Braasch uses this story to illustrate what the Apostle Paul taught: that God works all things for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

The 12 tribes are Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Benjamin, and Joseph, which later split into two “half-tribes,” Ephraim and Manasseh.
