Prison workers in Barcelona demand increased security measures

Dozens of Catalan prison workers took to the streets of Barcelona on Friday, calling for enhanced security measures in penitentiary centers. The demonstrators marched with banners reading 'Dignity of the staff is not for sale' and chanting 'We are all Núria' and 'We will not stop!’

The protest follows the murder of Mas d'Enric prison chef Núria. She was stabbed to death by an inmate who later took her own life at the prison. The incident, which occurred in March, prompted mass protests demanding that the government implement enhanced security measures to protect prison workers.
