Hardline Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene made a last-ditch attempt to remove House Speaker Mike Johnson on Wednesday, but it was immediately and decisively rejected by Republicans and Democrats who were fed up with the political mayhem.

One of the most ardent congressional supporters of Donald Trump, Greene rose on the House floor and delivered a lengthy list of alleged "transgressions" by Johnson while serving as speaker. Coworkers booed in opposition.

Johnson's leadership was called "pathetic, weak, and unacceptable" by Greene.

Following Greene's attempt to put the speaker out of office, Republican Majority Leader Steve Scalise swiftly retaliated by initiating a vote to table the proposal.

A resounding 359-43 vote preserved Johnson's position for the time being.
