"I'm Doing Something Cute!" Sister Enraged That Brother Interrupts Her

The ABCs song has been around for so long that we were curious where it came from and who wrote it. You might laugh at the idea of someone writing the alphabet song but someone had to come up with the last line and they had to compose the tune that you use to perform the song. It turns out that the song was originally copyrighted in 1835 by publisher Charles Bradlee with a crazy long title. The original title is “The A.B.C., a German air with variations for the flute with an easy accompaniment for the piano forte”. Wow! That is quite the title for such simple a song.

The original arrangement was attributed to Louis Le Maire. Did you know that the ABC tune is the same one that is used for Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and Baa, Baa Black Sheep. Apparently, this same tune was used in Mozart’s “Twelve Variations on ‘Ah, vous dirai-je, maman.” Who knew that so much went into the ABCs song? We certainly didn’t. Like learning the alphabet song, it is fun to learn about where they come from as well. The little girl in this video might not care because she is trying to be cute!
