HOW TO COOK PORK LUMPIANGSHANGHAI ILIPINO FOOD
Cooking Lumpiang Shanghai is a delightful endeavor! Here’s a simplified recipe:
Ingredients:
1 lb ground pork
1 cup carrots, finely chopped
1 cup green onions, finely chopped
1 cup onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 egg
Lumpia wrappers (spring roll wrappers)
Salt and pepper to taste
Cooking oil for frying
Instructions:
Prepare the Filling:
In a bowl, mix together the ground pork, carrots, green onions, onion, garlic, and egg.
Season with salt and pepper according to your taste.
Wrap the Lumpia:
Lay a lumpia wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1-2 tablespoons of the filling onto the center of the wrapper.
Fold the bottom edge of the wrapper over the filling, then fold the sides toward the center. Roll tightly to enclose the filling, sealing the edge with a little water.
Repeat until all the filling is used.
Fry the Lumpia:
Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium heat.
Carefully place the wrapped lumpia into the hot oil, seam side down.
Fry until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
Once done, transfer the cooked lumpia to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve:
Lumpiang Shanghai is best served hot and crispy, accompanied by a dipping sauce like sweet chili sauce or banana ketchup.
