U.S. soldier detained in Russia

A U.S. soldier, stationed in South Korea, was detained in Russia after allegedly committing theft, according to U.S. officials. The soldier traveled to Russia independently, not on official duty.

The incident occurred on May 2nd in Vladivostok, where he was apprehended for criminal misconduct.

The U.S. Army spokesperson confirmed the soldier’s detention and stated that the U.S. Department of State is providing consular support.

Rep. Michael McCaul expressed concern, citing Putin’s history of holding American citizens, NBC News has reported.
