Al Jazeera office in Israel raided and channeltaken off air in country | BBC News

Israel's government has moved to shut down theoperations of the Al Jazeera television network in thecountry, branding it a mouthpiece for Hamas.

Hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saidthe cabinet agreed to the closure, police raided thebroadcaster's office in Jerusalem on Sunday.

The broadcaster, which is headquartered in Qatar,called claims it was a threat to Israeli security a"dangerous and ridiculous lie".
