Danish Faroe Islands: 40 Pilot whales were killed in Blood-Sport

40 long-finned pilot whales dead in Klaksvik this morning. For what?
The grindadráp is a modern day dolphin drive that results in high levels of suffering and pain for the animals involved.
It’s hard but please watch this video.
The Faroese position is that the killing is swift and there is minimal suffering. Now put yourself in this dolphin’s place.
You and your family have been chased for over 90 minutes, you’ve tried to escape but are exhausted. Your family are all dead and you’re surrounded by so much sound and the water is so shallow, you can’t go anywhere.
Then you’re pulled onto the sharp rocks and held there by your blow hole. Your spinal cord has been severed, you’re paralysed. Your blood is pouring out.
The grindadráp is cruel.
Not because the killing is in the open. Not because the blood spreads quickly in the water. But because of the high levels of physical and mental suffering it causes over long periods of time.

Faroe Islands first Blood-Sport in this year - Killing Dolphins about the large faroese fishing industry

Japan calls the same cruelty in its own country, pest control, regulation by killing, the Faroes call it grindadrap. Grindadrap means whale murder, today it means regulation by cruel bloodsport for fun. Whereby pilot whales are dolphins. Japan, Norway, Iceland and the Faroe Islands kill whales and dolphins because these marine mammals are seen as competition for krill and small fish. Unfortunately, sardines, mackerel and other small fish, and other fis soecies , caught in these cetacean-killing countries are still bought and consumed all over the world. Is it really so important to eat fish and crabs for fun and gourmet, knowing now that whales and dolphins are being killed because of about and by these fishing industry ?!
