Ukrainian engineers seem to have converted another sports plane into a strike drone.
The Russians showed one of these aircraft more than 1000 km from the territory of Ukraine. Forbes reported the details of the plane that fell with an air bomb.
A few days ago, Russian propagandist Kirill Fedorov published an image of a converted sports aircraft into a drone. It crashed to the ground and lay upside down.
Visually, the aircraft looks like a Sky Ranger Nynja aircraft. It has a range of 643 km and a cruising speed of about 160 km/h. The carrying capacity is several hundred kilograms. It is also similar to another aircraft — the A-22 of the Aeropark company, which attacked the Shahed kamikaze drones production plant in Yelabuga.
After examining the photos, the author noticed an electro-optical system and a video camera. Probably, the drone was controlled manually through a satellite at the last stage of the flight, when it is necessary to direct the drone to a specific target. Before that, the entire flight can take place using GPS navigation.
Also on the suspension, the aircraft carried the FAB-100 air bomb, which can mean the ability of the drone to drop it, and return to the base, which potentially makes it reusable. However, this same theory can be questioned, because it is unlikely that the drone would have enough fuel to fly 600 km in one direction, and then another 600 km in the other direction. At least if an additional fuel tank is not installed inside. And if it was installed, it would weigh hundreds of kg, which would reduce the ability to carry a load.
The cost of a Nynja plane can reach several hundred thousand dollars if you add sensors, communication equipment, autopilot and explosive cargo. This is several times cheaper than traditional cruise missiles, which can cost a couple of million dollars per unit.
“It seems that Kyiv is buying every Nynja glider that the local industry can manufacture to turn them all into explosive drones,” the article reads.
