Thin Lizzy's Live And Dangerous Album is one of the best selling live albums of all time. Since it's release there have been rumors. Is it really “Live”? Is it a “studio” album? Maybe both? And if so how much?

Thin Lizzy's newest box set of all of the live recordings surrounding the album have finally been released. If you look at the original L&D album, several tracks don't have a specific date listed. Upon compiling Raw And Dangerous I began to see where some of the edits are. My biggest problem is “Southbound.” Only ONE live recording of it is included in the set, and while it's fantastic, it isn't the L&D version, even with edits. I heard the L&D version was recorded during a soundcheck. For this reason, I swapped the L&D version of “Southbound” with the one from the Rainbow Theatre. I felt this was the most honest approach, as my goal is to compile the “real” versions used for L&D.

For me the disparity is not glaring... edits for time in songs (for example part of the sax solo of “Dancing In The Moonlight” was cut, presumably for time), some of the banter between songs was cut. Some of the best banter was spliced where it needed to be. But for the most part, this is 95% of what L&D ended up becoming, other than what sounds like some mixing differences.

In my opinion, this COULD have been Live And Dangerous, and it still would have been near, if not AS popular as the official.

I also added “Soldier of Fortune” as the END of “SOF” IS the intro we all know into “Jailbreak.” I didn't want to cut and edit the end of “SOF” to get the intro as we all have become accustomed, so I just added the full song. In my opinion “Opium Trail” SOULD have been left in the run of “Cowboy Song,” “The Boys Are Back In Town,” “Don't Believe A Word,” and “Warriors.” I felt that adding it would have been too far of an alteration. I also would have added “Bad Reputation.” I only added “SOF” because it was obvious they played “SOF/Jailbreak” as a combo.

Whew! So ENJOY! Here is my version of Live And Dangerous, compiled from the ACTUAL FLAC's OF THE CONCERTS USED FOR THE FINAL ALBUM, RAW AND DANGEROUS.
