UCLA: California university calls in police after'violence' at pro-Palestinian protest | BBC News

Protesters have clashed at pro-Palestinianencampments in Los Angeles, hours after policecleared a similar protest in New York.

At the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA),vice-chancellor Mary Osako said, "horrific acts ofviolence occurred at the encampment tonight".

At Columbia University in New York, police arrestedprotesters nearly 24 hours after they took over an academic building.

US universities have been gripped by protests asstudents demanded a boycott of companies andindividuals with ties to Israel.
