This year's UC fashion show will feature feathers, vintage vibes and chainmail

The University of Cincinnati's annual College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning fashion show always features designs fit for the world's fashion capitals, and director Laurie Wilson said 2018's iteration will more than live up to audiences' expectations. "The show this year, I think, is going to be extremely exciting because of the diversity of the designs that are being created by our seniors for their capstone collections," she said. One of those seniors, Tara Guillozet, spent three months learned to embroider haute couture in Paris' Ecole Lesage, where experts stitch detailed designs onto gowns created by Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior. She's hoping the lessons she learned there will help her travel again. "I'm really looking to go out to the west coast," she said. "I've never been out to California and L.A." She added that her collection, which she said was inspired by the 1920s, blends "over-the-top embellishment" with grace and poise by incorporating unusual materials such as chainmail.  "I made a whole gown out of it with these beautiful ostrich plumes on the bottom," she said. "That was quite an accomplishment for me."
