Decriminalization of the Conservative Party?
May 1, 2024
Opposition leader suspended from Canadian parliament for "crazy" comment.........
Pierre Poilievre of the Conservative Party was kicked out after criticizing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's drug policy.Poilievre criticized the program and called on Trudeau to reverse his "extremist policies that have cost the lives of 2,500 people in British Columbia every year".
"When are we going to put an end to this crazy policy of this crazy prime minister?" Poilievre asked, earning loud applause from his party and an immediate response from Speaker Greg Fergus.
Fergus called Poilievre's choice of words "unacceptable" and repeatedly called on him to "withdraw this term, which is not considered parliamentary". Poilievre replied that he was willing to replace the word "crazy" with "extremist" or "radical" rather than simply retract the comment.
After some back and forth, Fergus ruled that Poilievre had "disregarded the authority of the chair" and instructed him to leave the room for the remainder of the meeting. The Conservative leader left the party, followed by the majority of his party.
Poilievre later that day criticized Fergus on X (formerly Twitter), saying that "the Liberal Speaker censured him" for "calling Trudeau's tough drug policy crazy."
Many Conservative MPs defended their chairman. "Liberal elites are more offended by the term 'crazy' than they are by exploding overdoses and the use of food banks." MP Jamil Jivani wrote on X: "Trudeau's policies are far more offensive than anything said in the House of Representatives today."

Turnaround in US drug policy
US government wants to relax marijuana regulations
Marijuana is legal in many US states, but not in all. The government now wants to reclassify the drug. This has consequences.
Published: 30.04.2024While marijuana is already legal in a majority of states or can at least be consumed for medicinal purposes, federal law is still lagging behind. In some states, the drug is relatively strictly prohibited. The government's move would not change this situation for the time being; penalties would still apply in the relevant states. However, it would have far-reaching consequences for research, taxation and would contribute to the further decriminalization of marijuana. Trade without a permit would still be prohibited.
...that's another story-xD?
