Bill Alexander made a PBS show, "The Magic of Oil Painting", which was enjoyed by young artists. After his show ended, his student, Bob Ross made a very similar show, "The Joy of Painting", which became immensely successful even among non-artists.

In a fit of jealousy, Alexander attacked his former student and claimed to have invented wet-on-wet (he didn't), saying Ross had stolen his style.

In so doing, Alexander forgot what art is really all about.
