Girl Treats Speed Math Test Like An Old Typewriter

Speed math tests are an interesting thing. Forcing someone to solve math problems in a set time limit is quite stressful. Especially for someone like me who struggles with math.

The groups of kids here are taking a speed math test that involves quickly solving math problems…

Story time. I recall when I was in third grade my teacher, Mrs. Jordan, made us do speed math tests every Friday. There were four levels. You started with addition, then subtraction, followed by multiplication, and finally ended with division. If I remember right there were 100 problems on the paper and we had a minute? Or maybe five minutes to do them. I don’t actually remember how long we had but I do know that it was hard. Though, I did eventually complete all four levels. The kids who finished all four levels got to do whatever they wanted during the math test time. I mostly read books. But that is what you get for being a nerd in the third.

The main girl’s technique is something to behold! I could NOT pull my eyes away!

This little girl is treating her speed math test almost like a typewriter. She pushes the sheet every time she finishes a problem. After she completes the last problem in a row she shoves the paper back under her and physically moves her body to the start of the row. I can almost hear the ding of the typewriter every time this kid resets herself. The ding sound is quickly followed by the clacking of typewriter keys. At least that is how I hear this video in my head. What about you? We don’t get to see the whole test but I wonder if this technique worked for her.
