Scottish National Party leader Humza Yousaf quits,triggering a search for a successor and new first minister.

He said he had "underestimated" the level of hurt afterending a power-sharing deal with the Scottish Greens last week.

The deal which brought Green ministers intogovernment for the first time anywhere in the UK wasdesigned to last until the next Scottish Parliamentelection in 2026 but has been scrapped within three years.

The tensions between the parties were obvious andincreasing, not least following the recent decision todrop some key climate change targets.

Mr Yousaf says he will stay on as first minister untilthe SNP chooses his replacement.
