Intelligent Bird Uses Bread Bait To Catch Small Fish Off Pier

When you visit a pier, you tend to see all kinds of wild life from fish and barnacles to innumerable, possibly annoying birds, like seagulls. However, with such close proximity to humans, birds are bound to pick up a trick or two.

Plenty of people have seen crows figure out traps and tricks to achieve goals but…

So, with this bird we took a few guesses. Now, we are not members of the National Audubon Society so we might be making a mistake. That said, our best guess as to what type of bird this is a long-billed curlew. Now, we realize that the coloration on this bird’s feathers isn’t quite a match. Generally, curlew’s have brown feathers and this bird appears to have black ones. Also, it’s tail appears different. Admittedly, we probably got this wrong. Specific bird species or not this bird is still fairly intelligent. Someone left chunks of bread on a dock. After a few moments of staring down the fish in the water, the bird hops up on the dock. He grabs one of the bread chunks and goes back to his perch. He then chomps the bread a bit creating smaller bits that he drops in the water. After a few moments some small fish can be seen nibbling at the bread. The bird takes his chance and bam! He catches one, pulling it from the water. A well-earned meal.
