Wasteland” is an interesting piece of work by Marya Mannes. Here, she laments over the careless and indifferent attitude of man towards the environment. She wants to say that human beings are destroying the mother earth with their own hands by throwing waste into the environment. They throw cans, empty bottles, boxes and poly bags on the roads, lands, streets and beaches instead of taking them to their appointed places. They spoil the purity of the earth by throwing the garbage here and there.
