Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell stated during an interview on NBC News’s “Meet the Press” that he does not believe presidents should be immune from criminal prosecution while the Supreme Court heard arguments regarding former President Trump’s immunity.

McConnell deferred to the Supreme Court’s decision on whether a president is above criminal prosecution, emphasizing the necessity of some form of presidential immunity to prevent constant legal challenges.

The Supreme Court heard extensive arguments from Trump’s lawyers regarding his immunity from criminal prosecution, particularly in a case alleging his involvement in overturning the 2020 election results.

When pressed about his previous comments and vote to acquit Trump during his impeachment, McConnell reiterated his stance but deferred to the court’s forthcoming decision, The Hill reported.
