The disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein's2020 rape conviction has been overturned by NewYork's top court, on the basis that he did not receive a fair trial.

The New York Court of Appeals found thatprosecutors were allowed to call witnesses whose accusations were not part of the trial.

The ruling said that meant he was tried on pastbehaviour and not solely on the crimes he was charged with.

Weinstein, who is now 72, will remain in prison for aseparate conviction for rape. Hedenies the allegations from Ashley Judd.

The New York court reached its decision on Thursday.
