The full meeting of the Fairfield County Commissioners' weekly meeting for April 23, 2024. This report dedicated to the memory of Judith (Colby) Stemen)

The meeting began with a Listen & Learn presentation on Public Health with Fairfield County Health Commissioner, Joe Ebel. https://www.fairfieldhealth.org/

Next, First Quarter 2024 Budget Review with Budget Director, Bart Hampson.

Then a special public hearing regarding the adoption of a Roadway Design Manual for Unincorporated Areas of Fairfield County.

Public Comments portion followed, beginning at 36:19 and running through 45:17. Note: some speakers were hard to understand their names or addresses.

First to speak was Sherry Pymer of Walnut Township and Citizens for Fair Fields (www.CitizendForFairFields.org). She talked about lingering issues regarding the Industrial Solar exclusionary zones leading up to the public hearing May 21, 2024. https://www.co.fairfield.oh.us/COMMISH/pdf/Resolution-2024-04.16.a.pdf

Jo Price (?) then came on behalf of Ray Stemen to say prayer for the County Commissioners and the passing of his wife Judy Stemen. (Ray and Judy were devoted regulars at the Commissioners' Meetings for years.)

The last two speakers were Carpenter Union representatives speaking in favor of Industrial Solar and indicated half-truths are being told by the opposition, with their main arguments being the jobs created by the projects. The remainder of the meeting were items related to the regular Legal Update and County Administrative Update(s) and the commission's "voting pattern".

The commissioners then adjourned while going into Executive Session.
